I've known Lacey and Kevin for years now, and it's always cool when friends find love. The wedding date is set for next September in Kenora, ON, so I'm really excited for the big day; shooting for people you know tends to take the edge off a little bit- I won't have as many new names to remember.

Lacey is often in the kitchen, baking up creations for loved ones, so when I mentioned a baking photo shoot, she jumped on it. The session was fun! Flour, sugar, spoons, spatulas, spread about; the kitchen was warm, and the two were cozy with one another.

I love when people are willing to get their hands dirty.. although I think a thin layer of flour was on just about everything when we were complete.

There couldn't be a better way to start the day than with a cup of hot chocolate and Bailey's. Not to mention the sun was warm, and we had a lovely fire awaiting us on the lake. I had these two take some time to relax on the couch, make some s'mores, and enjoy each other.

The location was perfect; Kate's grandmother owns this property, so all the eclectic collectables were a bonus. We wrapped up the shoot with a bit of a snow toss; I'm sure all the sugar excelled the momentum of this event.

Kate and Adam have set the date for next fall, which I'm really looking forward to...I know they're open to some fun and creative photo ideas.

Fake plastic trees.

A day before Michelle Casey had her art opening in Ottawa, we made our way to some trees for some inspiration. As I've said before, Michelle is a very talented artist, so anytime I have the chance to work with her, I walk away with a great experience.

I wanted the presence of Michelle's vast thoughts and ideas in the compositions; the question should arise in your mind as to what her story is. Only by taking the time to review her works should that become a bit more clear.

I took Ashley and Becky prisoner for an evening.. they were so wonderful to comply. I had them hauling props to a swamp - many u-turns later. Long walks down a dirt road; frolicking in the woods in the darkest of night also a requirement. Both did such a beautiful job for me, I had so much fun! I hope they'll consider doing it again.

The MacDougall's have expanded!

The last time I was able to capture Lynne and Josh, they were expecting Ivy, who is now reading to mom and dad, running about; dancing for us was a treat, she had no shame with the maracas. The weather was unusually warm for a fall day, so we made sure to have some time to play outside. Ivy was adorable, and forever energetic. This made my job very easy; capturing real moments for this lovely family. Lynne, Josh, and Ivy have now expanded with the addition of an adorable blonde boy. The future looks bright for this bunch. I hope we work together again.

The Baldwin's- a look back.

I've known the Baldwin's my entire life, and I've been able to photograph them together a few times so far. It's always refreshing to see them hang out; so genuine and loving to one another. Many memories for me, growing up on the lake. Karen's baking, John building things, constantly.. all while we would swim for days, so it seemed. Late night ouija and card games, paired with too many cookies, or the legendary puff wheat squares. Beautiful family to grow up with.

I came out to the Neufeld residence one evening to sit in on a marshmallow roast, and to capture the kids hanging out. It was really nice to see everyone joking and having fun. The Neufeld's are such a warm, caring family; opening their arms to others needing love and protection. I had a chance to talk to each of their kids for a bit, noticing how level headed and open they were, already. Ron and Theresa are raising a group of great people; no judgement or negativity.. a group seeing the best in someone, open to positivity, no matter what.

Wonderful experience.

The Grand Finale! Pam and Corey Kinakin

The last wedding of the summer could not have been anymore wonderful...such an easygoing, fun couple to wrap up the season with. Although the heat was much more than anticipated; the day climbed to a sweltering 26 degrees by 11am.

Pam's parents house was full of family, friends, flowers, and food; the excitement was buzzing throughout each room. Hair and makeup in place, all pinned and painted to perfection.

Corey was also in the company of close friends, celebrating his journey with the crack of a few beers, and the twang of country songs singing about love hurtin' and high school times.

Pam's uncle and aunt's farm looked perfect, I was thrilled to get the whole cowboy experience; majestic horses roamed everywhere, I was transfixed. Many loved ones watched the vows with admiration, while Corey and Pam only had eyes for each other. We made great use of the farm, and the horses; I was completely inspired by the unexplored.

I was able to secure a location for the intimate photos of Pam and Corey.. what a wonderful experience! It was like a playground in there, so much to work with. The lighting was amazing, and I could feel the calm set in; the two happily enjoyed one another's company.

The reception was full of tears and laughs, delicious food and cupcakes, speeches, toasts, and dancing. A perfect way to end a perfect wedding. I really enjoyed being in the company of Pam and Corey; both were totally down to earth, kind, and super fun! Cheers to that.

And the craziest day... Sam and Kyle- married at last

This day could not have been any more insane.. but it turned out to be tons of fun and super rewarding. I've known Sam and Kyle since high school, so it was surreal to see them say 'I do' in front of all their family and many, many friends. Sam is such a fun, energetic, and warm person, perfectly matched to Kyle- funny, laid back, and quite a gentleman. Both celebrate the life available in the beautiful small town of Kenora, ON, and wear it proudly.

Once again, I had the help of Ailsa Dyson from Ailsa Dyson Photography, which proved to be very necessary and appreciated.

The wedding took place on Coney Island, a beautiful spot that only takes 5 minutes by boat; family and friends were able to hop on the M.S Kenora to tug on over. The weather was anything but consistent.. Sam and Kyle were able to get through the ceremony, soon after came one of many giant rain storms.

Everyone had to run for cover on the big boat, during which we captured photos when the clouds permitted us. With many attempts in a few locations, starting and stopping for the next couple of hours. Hail even made an appearance at one point. Sam and Kyle were serious troopers for not breaking down and putting an end to it all. The reception came with a huge sigh of relief, everyone had some food and drink while the speeches were enjoyed by all; the entire group had wonderful things to say about the lasting couple. I think Sam and Kyle will have a lot to look back on, especially the many shots from the prop booth...which sums up their loving friends perfectly.

Bri and Jeff- elegant evening wedding

I was able to photograph Bri and Jeff earlier on this summer, we got to know one another a little better; a few common interests in music snuck into the conversation. Right away, I noticed how fun and relaxed they were, and how much they compliment each other.

Bri and Jeff both wanted to keep everything simple, fun, relaxed, and candid. I had the aid of Ailsa Dyson from Ailsa Dyson Photography shooting by my side for the hectic day, whom also expressed her love for the cool crowd.

The evening was full of love from close family and friends, supporting with applause, toasts, and fancy bird cage hats. All the ladies wore them proudly through the entire event, each being totally different than the one previous. The location looked lovely in the candle light, while the playlist made by Bri and Jeff called the party to the dance floor. Delicious food and drink flowed freely into the night, accompanying disguises and flip flops, sparklers and firelight. I think the newlyweds enjoyed themselves very much, alongside loved ones; the event was wonderful to capture.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kaila and her little man, Landon; charming little fellow. These images are to celebrate her growing family, and capture a location which means a great deal to them all. The property belongs to her grandparents, and proved to be a perfect location for photographs. I must say, Landon is quite the charmer... cute, and exuberant. It was lovely to capture the love Kaila has for her children.. always inspiring.

I'm almost ready to fit into the family myself.. I've photographed this lovely bunch a few times; Jake now out of his mother's belly.

I wanted to capture the real moments for this family. Let the kids enjoy being young, run around and make some faces. Halley and Jake, both adorable and hilarious.. many great expressions to capture. Although the shoot had to be in two parts.. due to a wicked rain out, I think it made for more interesting pictures in the end.

Bubbles, Moustaches, and Pink Shoes..

The Wedding day started out with sunshine, some coffees and hair for the ladies...The energy in the salon felt very calm and relaxed; Alyssa was surrounded by close friends and family. Scott and the guys were also super mellow, and ready to work through the complexities of clip on ties and suspenders; pink suspenders to showcase Scott's special groom status. Alyssa's radiance was lovely to capture, with the extra bit of sass from her Barbie pink pumps.

The ceremony was lovely and intimate..which included the help from their dog, who seemed to show his enthusiasm for the union during the ring exchange. Cuteness.

Wedding party photos were superb, especially with the aid of moustaches and bubbles. Everyone gave it their best effort, no skimping on the enthusiasm; weddings prove professional bubble blowers of everyone. The lighting and weather were stunning, an inspiration on its own; Alyssa and Scott made a perfect match to the locations.

The two could not keep their hands off each other, which made my job very easy.

Alyssa and Scott were so kind and patient through the entire process, which I appreciate entirely...

Dancing, candy, n' cupcakes flowed freely through the night, everyone celebrating the lovely bride and dashing groom.

Tegan and Cullen- True Love.

I first met Tegan and Cullen last year upon their engagement shoot, which was as much an adventure as the wedding day turned out to be. Tegan looked stunning in her gown and the ladies beside her presented themselves beautifully; Cullen and the boys cleaned up nicely too.. I won't leave them out. The ceremony was short and sweet, but no less significant.

The day proved to be packed full of events, photo locations, and ideas. The wedding party was relaxed, but up for whatever I asked of them, which is always appreciated; this sometimes involves climbing up and down jagged boulders.

After hanging out with everyone in the wedding party all day, and settling in with the reception goers, they all had wonderful thoughts on the happy couple-

That is, both of these people are some of the nicest, incredibly caring people they know; the love they share will last forever.

I had a chance to get Jen Davis in her dress once more, and I'm so glad it worked out! I'm really happy with these images, and of course, it gave us a chance to hang out again.

I had a chance to hang out with Bri and Jeff for an engagement shoot earlier this summer, which turned out to be great.. because I then knew how fun it would be to capture their wedding day. Both Bri and Jeff are super easy going and up for whatever I suggested. It's always really great when I come across people who have complete trust in me and my ideas.

Keewatin had lots to offer in photographs... and the conversation was always intriguing, including the common love for a few rad bands!

I was so pleased to meet both Jen and Kris. I knew from the start, that this would be a fun, creative, laid back event. The ceremony was beautiful, and the honest moments shared with family and friends were precious. The love between them presented itself brightly.

We had much to get done in the evening.. but it all turned out, and proved to be lots of fun...It was wonderful to capture Jen and Kris together, enjoying one another all day and night.

The summer has begun, and it's a hot one...

I had the chance to spend the afternoon with Adrianna and her son, Riley. Since the weather was sweltering, we thought it would be a good idea to hang out at the beach. I had to make a deal with Riley- a few photo's of him and his mom sitting, for a few rounds of hide and go seek...

As I went through the images to edit, Riley totally reminded me of the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip.

Adrianna has so much love for her little dude, very heartwarming.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give a little update as to what I've been up to and what my future plans are.
I just moved from Ottawa, ON to Toronto, ON, and I'm loving it already. I'm in the process of making a new website/look to accompany my new location. Also, I have changed the web address of this blog to

Jade/Super hero/Actress

One of my last shoots over the holidays was with Jade Benoit. That being said, it was a perfect way to wrap up the holiday. Jade is hilarious and so relaxed, it didn't really feel like I was working. I had a good time chatting and sipping espresso while she talked about acting school in Calgary. Eventually we had to go outside, which turned extreme as soon as she started jumping off of things. A big thanks to business' on Main St. for letting me take photo's inside. We especially had fun on the stage at Indira. Mannequins and all.

Here, I have one more example of people braving the cold winds in Kenora. Even though it was numbing outside, Tegan and Cullen seem to make you forget that when you watch them together. I have the pleasure of documenting their wedding day this coming August. Tegan and Cullen were such a fun and easy going couple to work with, and in that, I know I have a lot to look forward to when the big day comes. Both of them were very photogenic, I barely had to give direction.. I had enough to work with capturing the two of them hanging out. Congrats!

I met Carly Christensen in highschool, and I've always known her to be close to her two sisters. Not only do they resemble each other, but they share a creative and feminine personality. They were all so warm and polite. For the first part of the shoot, the girls took me to a skating rink to dance around in formal dresses, which I thought was super cool.
I was then introduced to their cat, whom was also wearing a formal dress... precious. We ended everything with a walk down some trails in Keewatin... suitcase in hand.

Randi Anderson, a friend, and a lovely lady whom I've photographed before, asked me to take photographs of her family...little did I know how many people she was including! Luckily for me, they were all so great and we all had a bunch of fun. We captured these lovely moments at the Vernon trails in Kenora. The trees and yellow light make for a beautiful background. We did our group shots.. which led right to playing in the snow.

I met the Burton family for the first time at their home in Kenora. I was happy to get to know each of them and learned they were all so nice and open to whatever I had in mind. Having an open mind is key when trying to take warm feeling photos during a Canadian winter, especially on this particular day. The wind was brutal. I appreciated all of them toughing it out to get some cool shots by the water.

Over the winter holidays I met with Kristyn Hancock to take some photos for potential modelling. She was totally easygoing and kind. The afternoon went by quickly; the weather held out for us to catch some warm evening light. The shop owners on Main street were great and let us make good use of the windows. Definitely the warmer option. I wish Kristyn luck on her future endeavours.

Besides the obvious as to why it's so great to be at home for the holidays, I'm always happy to take on new work for individuals and families wanting to celebrate and archive the present time.
Here are a few shots of the Miner family. Amanda and Todd were so kind and laid back; all three kids were adorable and up for some photos. It was a really easy event... although I did bring some candy for a bit of a bribe. This was one of the warmer days during the two weeks, so we were able to hang outside and play on GTs. Lovely family.

While I was in Kenora for a week in the Fall time, I met Shauna and Gerald, and as soon as I walked in the door they were both so kind and welcoming. As it turns out, they both know my sister, Yenta. Small world.
It was miserably rainy out, but we definitely made use of some colourful trees to cover us. I love all the yellow in the background. Really easy going, great people.
